A Year's Search Ended
I'd been looking for over a year for something to boost the volume of my MBP. I even bought an external USB powered clip on speaker to gain some volume. The external speaker was OK about half of the time. I still had to resort to headphones for some movies and videos. Then I read about Boom, available in a bundle of other software. I didn't want or need the other programs, but I definitely wanted to try out Boom. It is the best enhancement software that I've ever bought for my MBP. Finally I can hear everything.

Accidentally awesome
I recently picked up Boom as part of a bundle. I didn't pay much attention to it during the purchase, and I installed it to demo thinking it was a normalizer. I use cup earphones for my Mini at home because of insufficient volume, even keeping them plugged in while not being worn because they are louder than the integrated speakers (?!). Because of my desk setup, I don't want the clutter of powered external speakers, and I've been to lazy to seek out something sleek and sufficient. Anyway I noticed the headphones BLASTING, started to realize that Boom isn't a normalizer, and read about the product on the web site. This has to be approaching #1 among products I didn't directly buy and installed not knowing what it was! Now that I've actually used it, I would consider it a value at $7 a la carte and will recommend it to anyone that wants to actually hear something through a Mini's speaker.

Great!
It does just what it says. It gives a big boost to my MacBook Air's speakers, enough to overcome my somewhat poor hearing and make it possible for me to enjoy movies and TV without earphones.

Amazing little app
I bought my first Mac, a Mini, two months ago. From day one I found the speaker sound too low, even on the highest volume. The first idea was to buy external speakers, but this would mean more stuff on my desk and more wires to plug. A short search on the web and BOOM, found this amazing little app that solved my problems. Congratulations to the developers.

Awesome
Not only for the internal speakers, but I use it for my attached USB speakers too. Music sounds so much better now.

Worth it:
This is the first review I have ever written on Amazon, even though I buy almost all my products from this website alone. I wanted to write one because "Boom" is pretty amazing. Immediately after downloading this software, I played some music on iTunes and was truly blown away. Not only is Boom a great price, it really does change the sound quality of your Mac. Instead of buying an expensive speaker system, I definitely recommend that you try this first. You will save a lot of money.

Your Macbook Air is incomplete without Boom
This is a must buy for anyone with a Macbook Air. No one could or should claim any app would be able to make the MBA's speaker output comparable to a 15' or 17' MBP but Boom does a fine job (literally) raising the bar. I would also like it to be noted that the developers/support team are extremely courteous and helpful in assisting and resolving questions and issues. Their replies are amazingly prompt and thorough in every aspect. There is an issue with the current version with bluetooth audio devices, which is my only quibble and reasoning for deducting 1 star from an otherwise perfect implementation of a much needed solution. As a mid-2012 MBA user, I would highly recommend this to anyone with an 'Air as a necessary addition to your system.

Very pleased! Works even better than expected!!
I was a little skeptical about buying this app after reading some of the reviews here but decided to go ahead and take a chance with it as I watch a lot of videos during my commute to and from work. I am glad I decided to buy it. Once I had the application up and going. I played a couple of shows that I have had a problem hearing in the past. I was very pleasantly surprised to find that not only did it boost the volume, I was able to equalize the audio as well. I sat back and. enjoyed watching my shows for the first time without having to use headphones. The audio sounded wonderful, the lip sync was fine and I am one happy customer. I generally don't give out a full 5 stars on ratings, but in this case. this app does everything I wanted it to do and more. If you are wondering about making the jump, as I was, go ahead and buy the app. I am sure you will be very pleased with it. Look forward to using this application on a daily basis. Thank you for a wonderful product.

Must needed system wide EQ
I use this app for a system-wide EQ as my Macbook Air has extremely flat sound and I wanted an EQ to get better sound out of my headphones. It does a great job. There's not too much you can do for the EQ on the QEM speakers as they are limited by tech specs but the volume boost option works well. I'll also note that it seriously increases the volume output of my Air. It's probably 100% louder with the full volume on boost so I only use a bit of volume boost under most circumstances. I do not see any sound syncing problems so I'm wondering if that has to do more with resource usage on the reviewer's computers. They should try closing all programs except their movie player and boom and then open activity monitor to make sure that their cpu and memory aren't being used at high percentages. If so, it might be time for a memory upgrade. I'd give the app 5 stars if there was fast switching between EQ settings in the top bar and/or sliders for the EQ but I'm using it as an EQ app rather than a volume boost app.

A Must-Have for Macbook Airs!
I've always loved my 11 inch Macbook Air, except for the volume of its speakers, which isn't even loud enough for my friends and I to watch a tv episode in a quiet room. Boom changed all that. With it I can boost the volume on my Air to the equivalent of that on a Macbook Pro! Truly useful app!

Wow- I'm shocked at how well this works!
Wow. At first I thought $5 sounded steep for an app. Then I tried to listen to music on my brand new (amazing!!!) MacBook Air. Not bad, but pretty quiet. So I decided $5 wasn't much on top of the cost of the device. Downloaded, accepted the default settings and I'm am simply astounded by the difference. Just click the button on and off a few times -- enormous difference. Then I played with the app's EQ settings and like the "Music" one the best. I've always had difficulty watching movies on an airplane on my iPad. Can't wait to try this app there.
Kudos to the developers! Thanks!
