When To Use Selective Coloring

August 29th, 2012

Black and white photography can give very powerful meaning to a photo, but sometimes a bit of color makes it truly outstanding.

So what makes a perfect selective color shot?

1. The part in color needs to be bright to stand out from the rest of the image.

To make the most use of this technique, ensure that the colored element is really bright else the color will be lost and won’t stand out enough to create an impact on the viewer.

2. The element in color should occupy at least one fourth of the photo.

If the subject, that you choose to color, in the photo, is very small the impact of the color will be lost and almost the entire image will appear just black and white. So to ensure that the color stands out, choose a larger subject to colorize.

3. Color everything else.

You can choose an alternative strategy of leaving the main subject in black and white and coloring the rest of the image. This also helps highlight your subject.

Hope these tips give you some idea on what kind of photos will work best with selective coloring.

So what are you waiting for? Get started and get splashy!!

Live Filters on Camera Plus Pro v4.0

October 7th, 2011

Camera Plus Pro Logo

Live filters are the latest buzz in the world of iPhoneography. What’s new and different with these live filters, is the big question on everyone’s mind. This time around, the options available with live filters are pretty amazing! With my short stint with iPhones and iPhoneography, I’ve found a whole new world with live filters that I find totally cool and amazing with Camera Plus Pro v4.0.

2 finger swipeIn most camera apps (or even the previous version of Camera Plus Pro for that matter), your options for adding filters would be limited to taking a photo and then applying a filter to it. So that would mean waiting till the end to see how your final photo would turn out. The option of live filters bridges this big gap and allows you to have a look at the filter set and choose the filter you want to apply even before taking the shot. And if you want to change filters, all you would have to do is flip through with the 2-finger swipe to change to the next filter until you find what you’re looking for. The best part is that this option is available for both photos and videos on your iPhone with version 4.0 of Camera Plus Pro. So in essence, you can decide what your final photo or video will look like even before you hit the capture button.

editWhat’s also interesting is the additional filter set with a number of new filters added that lets you further add filters to your photos. So, can you apply a filter on a photo taken with a live filter? Abso-freaking-lutely! This is a whole new dimension in photo editing and definitely a must watch-out for all the editing buffs out there. This camera app also gives you full control in the editing phase, to decide how your photo will look in the end. The live controls on the editing tools including hue, saturation, brightness, sharpness and contrast further let you play around until you decide what is just right for the photo.

From start to finish, Camera Plus Pro v4.0 is all about letting you have all the freedom to capture mind-blowing photos. With live filters, we have created a platform for users to have total independence in their work and become the ultimate creators of their masterpiece!

Grab your app while it’s on sale at a 66% discount for $0.99 only for a limited period! You can pick up Camera Plus Pro v4.0 with live filters for photo and video on the App Store. To know more about live filters and other features of the app, visit us here.

Recreate Magical Snaps with Photo Delight for iPad

November 15th, 2010

Aparecium! (Yay! Finally I got to use one of my favorite spells from Harry Potter series :D ) Let me introduce you to the newest member of our family – Photo Delight, an exclusive app for the iPad which I am so excited about.

Photo Delight is a color splash application with a difference. Go crazy with some hard to miss exclusive features such as importing photos from your or your friend’s Facebook world, sharing it on different social media and lastly, the perfect timing of Apple’s AirPrint to let you take photo prints directly from within the app. Does it sound different now?

If you want to know more but don’t have much time at hand, we have a short video of about one and a half minute telling you all about the app. Have a look here.

Photo Delight is an intuitive app based on selective colorization with a host of amazing features. You get to work on a beautifully designed wooden easel and customizable brushes. Use a small brush to color the eye precisely or change the opacity of the brush to get a lighter version of the original color in the image. Toggle between hard and soft brushes to achieve a perfect blend of black and white and color in your image. If you make mistakes while finger-painting an area, use the undo action or make use of the eraser to remove the color spill.

These days whatever we do or experience, somehow ends up being in our Facebook as status or pictures. Last year’s hiking trip to Alaska with your friends, this year’s awesome Halloween party you threw or the wedding of your sister, all these moments are there in your Facebook albums. So we thought, why don’t we let you import these memories from Facebook albums, so you could color splash them and share it back with your friends and family from within the app itself. And since some of you would also like to showcase your masterpiece to others, we have brought you the option to share it on Twitter or Flickr as well.

In this era, you need to be real quick. So do away with the tedious task of uploading each photo individually to different social networking sites. Get hold of a snap and once you are ready, upload it simultaneously to Facebook, Twitter or Flickr.

And now, let’s get to the most exciting part of this app. In the upcoming iOS 4.2 update for iPad, you can not only create amazing masterpieces and share them on social networking sites but also print them straightaway from within the app itself (works only on iOS 4.2 updated iPads). The printing can be done using any HP ePrint enabled printer. Decorate your house with the color-splashed photos or gift them to your friend on her anniversary.

And lastly, we have a feature within the app that you can use to share your amazing creations with Global Delight i.e. us! We would be delighted to see the images that you come up with using Photo Delight.

A huuuuuge thank you to all of you for your constant support to Camera Plus and Camera Plus Pro! Your enthusiasm and support tempted us to venture further and create an app for the first time for an iPad. We hope that you would love Photo Delight as much as you have loved the other apps from us. We welcome any suggestions and feedbacks that you might have about the app. And any bugs you face, please do report them to us. It helps us to fix them in the next update so you can have an experience even better than before.

The app is available on the App Store at a price of just $1.99. Don’t miss out the fun, head straight to the App Store to buy or gift. Check out the Photo Delight page for more details.

Have fun using the app and do drop in your comments. We are also there on Facebook and Twitter.
