Voila v3.0.1

Voila v3.0 has been a delight to many with the unique capability of being the best All-In-One Screen Capturing Utility on Mac and light on the pocket. With quick and easy screen capturing, recording, image editing, organizing and multiple sharing options, Voila easily is the best bet.

So what does Voila v3.0.1 have for you?

Since the release of Voila v3.0, we have been inundated with mails, with feature requests, suggestions and feedback. This version is mainly an answer to those mails. One of  the most frequently asked for features was the ability to generate a URL for files uploaded via FTP/SFTP. We know how important this feature is and thus have enabled this feature.

How does the FTP/SFTP URL generation work?

ftpupload1

Once you have configured the FTP server and authenticated Voila in the Voila Preferences-Sharing pane, enter the web address, as shown in the screenshot, which will be used to generate a URL to view the uploaded image or video. This web address is the publicly-accessible location of the folder to which the files are uploaded and is used to generate a URL to view the uploaded file.

Now  every time you publish images or videos via FTP or SFTP, the selected images and videos will be uploaded to the selected folder and the URL will be copied to the Clipboard.

In this version, we have also fixed the FTP/SFTP Authentication error that some of you have faced and reported.

Capture web pages from Google Chrome as well!Google Chrome Capture

In this version we have tried to support capturing web pages from Google Chrome. You can either snap the active browser URL directly or open the current URL in the Voila Browser, with just a tap, in the Web Capture mode.

However, the current version of Google Chrome does not support AppleScript. Though the patches are available for this, it has not been released yet. You may face a few issues while capturing from the Chrome browser, which you can always report back to us. Thus, we have used an alternative method to get the active URL from the Chrome browser, but it brings the Chrome browser to the front as in case of Firefox (version 3.6 or later); however you can carry on with web page/area/DOM capturing by clicking on Voila. As soon as Google Chrome supports a full-fledged AppleScript, we will release another update.

Publishing on Voila v3.0.1:

Growl Notification

In this version, once you have hit the Publish button, the operation takes place in the background, thus allowing you to continue with your work, rather than having to wait for the publishing to get over first. We have included Growl Notifications, whereby you will be notified once the files have been published and the URLs have been copied to the Clipboard successfully.

If you haven’t tried Voila yet, do it today! You can try the 15 days trial version first to see for yourself what Voila has to offer to you. As always, we would love to hear your opinions, feedback and suggestions. Please feel free to drop us a line.

The version of Voila which many of our users have been waiting for is available for download on our web site. Voila v1.1 includes a lot of improvements that our users have suggested, in addition to this, we have 2 new sharing options, Flickr and FTP. Lets take a look at some of the major features.

You can create your own Flickr albums, specify the title, description, tag them and set the visibility settings using Voila before uploading the images to Flickr. If you have an FTP site, you can specify a folder in the Voila Preferences to which you want to upload images and then upload them to the site.

We have been receiving a lot of requests on including more stamps. So here it is. This version includes 7 additional stamps.

In Voila v1.01, you could only email images using Apple Mail, so we have included support for Microsoft Entourage with v1.1. You can now set the email client that you want to use as the default in the Voila Preferences to email the images created using Voila.

Object capture has been made as a separate mode of capture. So if you want to capture a window it’s just point and click.

In addition to this, we have other minor tweaks which you will definitely notice while using the application.

You can follow us on Twitter and participate in the development of the upcoming versions of Voila.

Please join the Voila group on Flickr and share the images you have created using Voila.

We thank all Voila users for their support and feedback.
