Smart Touch Your Holiday Memories With Photo Delight

December 20th, 2010

Smart Touch

Photo Delight is already a baby of over a month now. And the folks at Apple Store have been really nice to include Photo Delight under the New and Noteworthy section in more than eight countries like UK, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Denmark to name a few. It is also a staff favorite in Germany, Australia and New Zealand.

Now let’s get down to sharing some more exciting news with you. Your Christmas tree must be up in its place by this time and slowly swelling up with a number of awesome gifts that your loved ones may be stuffing under it. Likewise we too have a sweet update for your favorite app Photo Delight that will make your holidays all the more special.

So, let’s see what the update has in store for you. The first thing you are going to notice is the modified version of the beautiful easel that you had become so familiar with. We know you have loved the easel so it mostly remains the same but the icons of the various options have been redesigned to give them a more sophisticated and classy look. The options button now occupies the bottom left position on the easel palette. We have also added a redo option for you to have more control over your actions.

The most exciting feature of this update is the introduction of Smart Touch. Now you may wonder what is this smart touch. For starters, it is an intuitive feature that lets you finger-paint only on a particular color. How does that happen? Well, when you begin finger-painting on a certain color say for example green, with the smart touch option selected it will only reveal the color green in your image. The color spilling out of the edges of an object look very shabby and unprofessional. Now this feature comes in very handy when you are finger-painting the edges or even otherwise. Begin painting on the green leaves and watch only the green leaves reveal their color like magic. Thus, no more worries about crossing the lines, smart touch is never gonna tie you down ;)

Our users had reported some bugs that were making it difficult for some of you to enjoy the app. We have fixed these issues in the current update; you can download them from here. We are grateful to all who reported about the bugs and made it possible for us to fix them. We request all our users to report any bugs that you come across directly to our Photo Delight support mail, so that we can work on a fix.

And those who are still wondering what to gift your loved ones, you can grab a copy of Photo Delight here and see how awesome it is for yourself. Also don’t forget to vote for us in the Best App Ever Awards!

Have a fun filled holiday and do share your Christmas Photo Delights with us :)

It’s time to celebrate Christmas and I’m all set to create the perfect greeting for all my viewers! Just follow the steps below:

1. Capture the required image

  • Select the capture type from the toolbar. It could be a fullscreen, selection or menu.
  •

  • I have selected Rectangular capture from the Selection drop down.
  • To capture an image simply click and drag over the area you want.
  • The captured image is instantly displayed in the Voila window.
  • You are now done with the first part-Capture. Wasn’t it simple?? Look at the image I have captured below.
  •

2. Annotate the image

The captured picture looks a little plain to me. It’s now time to perk it up!

  • Let me first go to Effects and add an appropriate Edge effect. Hmm.. let me see.. Let me give a Blur effect to the image.

  • I can modify the edges a bit. Sine Wave looks perfect!
  • A few lines to give it a more classic look might be helpful. Select the Tools tab, go to Lines, select an appropriate color from the color well and drag them across the image-I’ve chosen grey with a 1 pixel thickness, no shadow and 100% opacity.
  •

  • Let me get Santa to convey some message to you. Go to Callout, select an appropriate callout and style and drag it on the image. Enter appropriate text into it. I’ve selected the cloud callout with a glossy style and red color. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
  •

  • Wow this is cool!! A few bubbles might look good. Go to Spray, select Bubble option and spray them away.
  •

  • It’s a festive season and a few balloons would just fit the bill! Choose Balloons from the Spray tool and simply spray them wherever you want
  •

  • And now for the final touch-Select the Text tool and add your message. I’ve chosen the curved text option from the Direction property.

3. Share your greeting

  • Select iPhoto or Mail to send the greeting to iPhoto or mail it to your friends. I’ve selected the Save as option to get this final output!

Simple, isn’t it??? Here’s wishing each of you a very merry christmas and a happy new year! Go on, get your copy of Voila and become more expressive this festive season!
