Boom User Story – A Truly Matchless Asset!

Ron M’s Avatar

My name is Ron M and I’m from Sydney, Australia. I’m a professional Sound Supervisor/Audio Director who’s into my fifth decade of ongoing work in the field, mostly live and on location.

I’ve now spent five months using Boom on a daily basis, waiting to discover “the catch”.

In my experience, Boom’s clever multi-band companding (controlled by the “Boom Volume “slider”) rivals that from digital rack-mount systems at around ten times the price, …having adjustment ranging from the truly subtle and transparent “evening-out” of perceived loudness to the harshest imaginable dynamic boosting that’s either for the hearing-impaired, or is a valuable “last resort” for recovering intelligibility from horribly degraded source material.

That tool alone would be worth Boom’s cost, but then, …there’s the absolutely intuitive to operate, (roughly octave-spaced) graphic equaliser that “remembers” user-defined presets.

It boasts just enough sliders to facilitate the rapid “panel beating” of any sound or system in the absence of pink noise and measurement microphone.

Speaking of “absence”, the addition of harmonic and temporal distortion is also notably absent when using this device.

Ron’s Mobile Control Room

In over forty years of touring audio worldwide, I’ve experienced nothing that approaches Global Delight’s “Boom”.

Boom stands alone as the “weightless” system that allowed me to instantly turn the “sow’s ear” formed by a large-scale distributed array of “peaky-sounding” ceiling speakers into the smooth-sounding “silk purse” that distributed seamless, top-quality, full-spectrum “dinner music” from my MacBook pro to over a thousand diners…

…And that “Boom Preset” remains, for return engagements.

As for “the catch”…

…I’m still waiting.

One of our customer, Ron M, shared his experience using Boom volume booster app for the Mac. Ron was generous to provide some photos and said we could share his Boom experience. And why not, we thought of posting it here for everyone to read.

We thank our wonderful customers who provide their support, feedback, suggestions to improve our Mac apps. If you would like to experience what Ron’s talking about, you can try Boom volume booster for free. And if you have your Boom story, do share with us in the comments section!

I have been using boom for a while now, I exited the app and now it does not allow me to use the volume control, it is stuck on a “know more” option and not allowing me to get past that even when i downloaded the component. Please advise asap

I purchased Boom several days ago from the Mac App Store. So could you please take that “Trial or Purchase” off this computer. Note I’m being punished by the Mac Apps store for asking a refund on another Apps that didn’t work. My punishment for requesting $1.00 refund was banishment for life attempting to purchase any app from their majesty’s store. The $1.00 meant nothing but the principle did. Resetting your computer allowing your purchase from a “Third” party is easy to reset on your computer.

Does not work on OS X Yosemite, time would have to release some beta version that supports Yosemite. Thank you.

We’re already working on an update that should release around the time of Yosemite’s official release. Hold on tight until then, cheers!

I keep seeing ‘make your iPod louder’, but I don’t see an app in the app store. Where would I find this? Have loved Boom on Mavericks and eagerly await the Yosemite compatible version.

    Hi Joel,

The feature you’re enquiring about is part of the Boom app itself. You can boost files and send them to your iOS device by simply visiting the ‘Boost Files’ tab that can be found on the bottom left part of the main window. As for Yosemite compatibility, we’re working on an update that should come out around the time of Yosemite’s official release. Good day!

Well, I, for one, apparently don’t understand
“Boom” or how to use it, or what it does. I’ve installed it, now what? Am I supposed to see some controls, or instuctions, or anything?

Once installed, you get the Boom icon on the menu bar. Clicking on it brings up a slider that can be used to increase/decrease Boom’s volume.
