An Apology.

Writing a post titled ‘An Aplology’ is never a good feeling. Putting this apology in context, version 1.1 of WordDigest that got through to the App Store had an expiry date set to it which rendered the app unusable from midnight April 4th 2009 onwards. We are painfully aware of how much this inconvenienced our customers who paid for the application and now cannot use it until version 1.1.1 hits the App Store.

We have already fixed this issue and submitted the new version 1.1.1 on April 6th to Apple. This version is in review and hopefully would be approved in the next couple of days.

A lot of hard work has gone into making WordDigest a product that would be cherished by its users and it is really unfortunate that an error of such magnitude managed to slip by us unnoticed. Processes have been reviewed, appropriate preemptive measures are in place and now we would like to apologize to all our customers for the inconvenience caused. We regret that this ever happened.

In an effort to brighten up the somber mood of this post we would be giving away 20 promo codes for version 1.1.1 of WordDigest. We would list them out in another post as soon as the version 1.1.1 goes live (we can generate them only after a new version is available). While we do realize that this does not appease those of you who have already purchased the app we felt that we should do something more than just issue a written apology.

    hi,

    glad to hear the problem is now fixed. does that mean this new version will be a free download to all those who purchased the original? or will it have to be paid for again unless you are one of the 20 with a promo code?
    if you have to pay for it again will you be refunding the money already spent on the first application?

    sorry for all the questions just wanted to get the post clarified. it is a fab app though

    thanks

    @Kris Robinson
    HI Kris,

    The new version will be an update to the current one so it is going to be a free download for those who already have the application. The promo codes could be used by those who are purchasing the app for the first time. So if you have friends who would want the app keep watching this space for them.

    I’m glad you like the app. As I am writing this, WordDigest v1.1.1 has hit the app store so the next post should have the promo codes.
