Hi.. I have an old iMac with Tiger and I don’t plan to upgrade to Leopard soon due to bad economy ;) I saw Voila on your site and seems to be good for my work. Get it for Tiger and I can pay $39 definitely…

I believe that there are still many users utilizing Tiger for legacy apps- and the ability to still use 9.2.2- believe it or not. Not so much because of the cost of Leopard, but because of the cost of upgrading all their apps. I am one of them. At the MacZot cost, I would be interested in purchasing a copy of Voila. However, one must keep in mind that you would need to adopt it for both the Intel & PPC architecture- and for machines that are slower. Perhaps, only running on those running at 1 ghz. and above? Just my thoughts.

Hi, I have a Quad G5 (that can never run snow Leopard) but am committed to a lot of legacy OS X software that won’t run on OS X as well as some classic apps. I may also get an Intel machine next year as well, but I won’t be as interested then. My mom has a power mac G4 laptop and very interested in scrapbooking, and thus the one most interested in your product, but not likely to upgrade from Tiger.

Definitely make it for Tiger, my older iMac won’t go above Tiger. And I’m still using Tiger on my newer big iMac and laptop, even though I have Leopard.

Make it for Tiger providing that it doesn’t hamper the creation of features that may require 10.5 or .6.

Although I upgraded to Leopard only some months ago and no longer use Tiger, I do know that there is a big user base of Tiger for various reasons (including some people who have Leopard and Tiger and feel that Leopard is more buggy for them). So it would be good to support Tiger.

Yes, without question. Some of us still run older systems, so if you could port this to Tiger, that would be great!

Been a Mac-Man since 1985. Still using Tiger. Heard a rumor there might be an upcoming bundle of Leopard/iWork/iLife put out by Apple for the 25th anniversary.

If not, I’ll continue using Tiger… many of my legacy apps are all that I need.

there are many of us who will never go to Leopard. We love Mac, but Mac has a WAY OF KICKING ITS OLD FAITHFUL USERS TO THE CURB. Each time we up grade we lose some ability with the present system. We understand and support the need for new technology and advancement, but when you are no longer able to use one of your older programs because it is no longer compatible, this is not advancement. (even this would be OK if the old programs were being rewritten. But they’re not) Tiger is as far as I am going. I have been chasing Mac since System 7.2. Its good to know that I am not the only one. If Mac pulls away from us this time, so be it. We will be Tiger until we no longer have stripes.

I would consider making the Tiger version available by a fraction of the cost of the actual version. You will earn upgrades sooner or later, for sure.

    @Bob Zozus
    Hi Bob

Thanks for sharing your opinion. Yes, you are correct, there are many who run their Macs on Tiger OS. But there is a tendency that Mac users always want to try something new (technology wise) in the first place. You made a good point there; the cost of upgrading other apps..

    Hi Dennis

Thanks for sharing your opinion. Apple has announced a bundle offer of Leopard OS/ iWork/ iLife during Macworld. Many users would want to upgrade their OS. Tiger porting has a considerable effort and we just are relying on users to express their opinion..

    Hi

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on porting Voila on Tiger.

“I would consider making the Tiger version available by a fraction of the cost of the actual version.” It’s really not! Porting to Tiger OS needs considerable effort and time as some things are not native on Tiger OS unlike Leopard OS (This is pitched by Voila Development Team :) ) So a lot of rewriting has to be done.

    Keep sending your comments.

    Voila for Tiger
It is good news to Know that some one is considering a product that bridges the gap between the old and the new. Good Luck.
From a business point of view, it is my opinion that MAC creates new markets with each advancement, but ignores the market(s) that it has already created, such as Jaguar, Classic, Tiger, etc.. MAC pushes very hard with its new system(s) and up grades, leaving many stuck in the previous system . There are so many people not Knowing what to do because they have just learned their system (that they feel that they have spent good money on) Now MAC is telling them that their system is no longer compatible. These are markets that Mac has created, but leaves them hanging with dusty G3’s under their desk.
MAC should appreciate companies such as yours. People who are Considering products that will support a market that MAC has left behind. This in turn will keep people thinking MAC. Instead of having only one market, MAC could have several.

    Thanks for listening.
